Cruroplasty

Cruroplasty, or calf augmentation surgery, is a type of plastic surgery that reshapes or enhances the appearance of the calves. It offers a solution for correcting calf asymmetry, improving their aesthetic appearance, or restoring lost volume. This procedure is particularly popular among individuals who seek well-proportioned and aesthetically pleasing legs without undergoing extensive and complex surgical processes.

Why is Cruroplasty Performed?

This surgery is performed for various reasons:

  • Correction of congenital or acquired abnormalities, such as muscle tone disorders or leg asymmetry.
  • It provides an effective solution for individuals with thin or disproportionate calves.
  • It serves a reconstructive purpose after injuries or diseases that have affected the legs.

Surgical Procedure

During cruroplasty, silicone prostheses are inserted to enhance the volume and appearance of the calf muscles. The silicone implants come in different sizes and shapes, depending on the specific characteristics of each patient’s body. The surgery typically takes about 1-2 hours, with a recovery period of approximately two weeks.

Recovery

Post-surgery, special care is required to ensure proper healing of the operated area and to maintain the surgical results. Most patients can return to work within 10-14 days, but full recovery may take several months. Physical activity is limited in the first few weeks, and sports activities are usually permitted only after 1-2 months.

Potential Complications

Like any surgery, cruroplasty carries certain risks, including infections, implant displacement, or allergic reactions.

Cruroplasty is widely practiced, and experienced specialists in this field use advanced techniques to ensure optimal outcomes for patients. This procedure offers an effective solution for those who are unhappy with the shape of their calves and wish to achieve a more balanced and attractive appearance.
