Breast Plastic Surgery
Breast plastic surgery (mammoplasty) is a common and safe method for women to correct the shape and volume of their breasts, also allowing them to eliminate defects caused by injuries or surgical interventions. Additionally, after pregnancy and breastfeeding, women often experience breast sagging, which necessitates skin tightening to restore the previous appearance of the breasts.
Types of Breast Plastic Surgery
Breast Augmentation (Augmentation Mammoplasty)
Breast augmentation is performed using two methods:
- Breast Augmentation with Implants: Implants are placed under the muscle, preventing the formation of a capsule and ensuring a more natural appearance without the issue of palpable edges if the implant is large. The placement of implants can be done in various ways depending on the incision and position.
- Breast Surgery Using Autologous Fat as a Transplant: Augmentation using the patient’s tissues involves injecting fat not into the gland but onto the muscle, under the gland, into the muscle, or into the subcutaneous tissue.
Breast Reduction (Reduction Mammoplasty)
During breast reduction, excess fatty and glandular tissues are removed. This is an effective method to address problems and asymmetrical shapes caused by large breasts, which can lead to spinal pain and skin irritation.
Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
Breast skin tightening is performed to restore symmetry, elasticity, and a beautiful appearance of the breasts. During this surgery, excess tissues are removed, and the remaining tissues are lifted.
It should be noted that all types of plastic surgeries are performed under general anesthesia.
What Problems Does Mammoplasty Address?
- Insufficient or excessively large breast size
- Loss of volume or shape due to breastfeeding
- Noticeable asymmetry
- Volume loss after significant weight loss
- Age-related changes in breast shape, sagging, and decreased elasticity
- Post-surgical or post-traumatic changes
- Breast removal due to pathological conditions
Contraindications
- Chronic diseases
- Severe cardiovascular and respiratory diseases
- Tumor diseases, etc.
Postoperative Period
In the case of breast plastic surgery, the postoperative period is somewhat longer, more painful, and uncomfortable compared to other types of surgeries. Typically, absorbable stitches are used, and the dressings need to remain for only a few days. Pain will subside within about a week, and swelling within a month.
During the recovery phase, special underwear should be worn for another month, arm mobility should be limited for 2-3 weeks, and lying on the back only for 7-10 days. Physical activities or other vigorous exercises should be avoided for the next 2-3 months.
